Student Council bodies play an important role in universities as they demonstrate the power and value of the democratic process. At IUG students engage in a free and fair election process and they are provided an outlet to express themselves in a traditionally demanding environment. What makes our Student Council so impressive?
IUG has a strong Student Council body that has bridged the gap between students and faculty since its inception. Over the years our Student Council has improved campus and study life through innovative and creative initiatives. They have done impressive work with local and international charities, organized student outings and are active in welcoming all our new and anxious students on campus.
The Student Council provides students with practical experiences needed for the real world. Our students gain negotiational, interpersonal, communication and leadership skills while boosting their self-confidence. It plays an important role in student-teacher relations and gives a voice to our students who are unable to speak for themselves.
Each December students engage in exciting and creative campaigns to vie for the President and Vice President positions. After a fierce month-long crusade, the students let their voices be heard and casted their votes.
In January 2021, IUG was proud to announce that Maxine Moreau has been re-elected for her second year as President, and we welcomed Bruno Grob who has recently joined the university and has already been elected as Vice President.
Here is a little bit more information about them:
My name is Maxine Moreau and I am originally Mexican but I have a mutli-cultural background which includes the origins of the Dominican Republic, Germany, France and the United States of America. I am currently in my second year of university studying International Relations at International University In Geneva to pursue my goal in becoming a diplomat. I have always loved being a leader ever since middle school and I always have several creative ideas and plans to implement in the institutions I am currently in. As President of the Student Council I promise to make you all feel welcomed at IUG and have a great and memorable student life
My name is Bruno Grob and I am 21 years old. I come from Tanzania but was raised in Switzerland. I enjoy traveling and have gone on mission trips and taken care of children, taught lessons in my previous school and enjoy volunteering. I am a creative, responsible, humorous and an organized individual. I am an avid swimmer and athlete (running and javelin) and enjoy pretty much anything that keeps me active at a constant rate. My interests are open to anything, and I am willing to try anything, if it seems sane and safe. I can often be loud, enthusiastic, and as described by many of my friends, "quite the character".
